AI Automation Engineer

Austin, TX
Full Time
Mid Level

AI Automation Engineer (aka: Builder)

We're looking for a builder who pays for themselves. Someone scrappy, who sees a messy problem and instinctively wants to solve it. This isn't a role for someone who likes to "explore AI" or "champion digital transformation."
It's for someone who ships automations that return real, measurable time and money. You'll look at how we work, find the friction, and build the automated systems that let us move faster, work smarter, and do more with less. You'll spend about 70% of your time on Ark Financial's internal operations and 30% on other strategic projects with our founder, David Bull.

If inefficiency bothers you at a deep level and your instinct is to fix it rather than complain about it, this role was made for you.

About Ark Financial

At Ark, we believe entrepreneurial families deserve more than transactions. They deserve transformation.

Our Family Office Operating System (FOOS) helps families align wealth with Protection, Peace, and Purpose. As Ark continues to grow, operational leverage becomes critical. The AI Automation Engineer will design and implement the systems that allow our team to scale impact without increasing complexity.

This role is responsible for ensuring Ark operates as an AI-native organization, where the right systems quietly remove friction behind the scenes.

What You're Responsible For

You won't be stuck optimizing one process in one department. You'll have a bird's-eye view of the entire organization and the authority to fix what's broken. One week, you might be rebuilding how we onboard a new client. The next, you could be automating how our coaches track progress for 50 people in our Academy. The week after, you might be helping our CEO spin up the operational backbone for a brand-new venture. You'll be expected to dive into our core processes and hunt down inefficiency. That means
looking at:

  • How we sell and serve clients: Automating our sales process, client onboarding, and
    engagement journeys in our CRM.

  • How we manage money: Streamlining accounting, reporting, and invoicing in QuickBooks.

  • How we run the business: Improving how our team uses SharePoint, our LMS, and the
    Microsoft Office Suite.

You'll track what you invest (time, tools, build time) and what the business gets back (hours saved, errors reduced, throughput gained). You'll see things most operators never get to see. You'll be the person who makes it all run faster, cleaner, and smarter. This isn't a support role. It's a seat at the table.

The AI Stack You Need to Know

We're not looking for someone who has just "used ChatGPT." We're looking for a builder with
strong, informed opinions about what's worth using. That means you have real experience
with:

  • The AI/LLM Layer: Prompt engineering, API integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini),
    and model selection.

  • Agent Frameworks: Building or deploying AI agents with tools like LangChain,
    LangGraph, or AutoGen.

  • Workflow Automation: Using tools like n8n, Make, or Zapier with the judgment to know
which is right for the job.

  • AI-Assisted Development: Using tools like Cursor or Claude Code to be faster.

  • Data Plumbing: APIs, webhooks, CRM integrations, and clean data architecture.
If you're still catching up on most of these, this isn't the right fit.

What Makes You a Fit

  • You think in ROI, not tasks. You estimate the cost vs. the return before you build anything.

  • You've actually built things. You have a portfolio — GitHub, a demo, a side project. You can show your work.

  • You own the full lifecycle. You don't just build; you train, you document, you drive adoption. You own the outcome.

  • You move at a different speed. You're constantly tinkering and shipping, not because you love technology, but because you love results.

Exceptional builders early in their career are encouraged to apply. If you can prove your output, years don't matter.
